The painting was an entrant in the 1929 San Antonio Competitive Exhibition Group 1 Texas Wildflowers category and was originally exhibited in the artist’s hand-carved frame. Dawson-Watson was awarded Hors de Concours for this painting.

The inscription at the top of the frame reads:
